Happy Incorrectness

January 30, 2004

When I’m wrong, I’m wrong, and I don’t mind admitting that in this case.

Today was actually a pretty good day.

I’ve had CSS training at Inacom all day today, and it’s been v. cool. Between the reading I’ve done up until this point and the class, I’m going to be tackling a CSS conversion of the site at some point in the near future. Can you say time consuming?

Just the same, should be coo.

I have no idea what I’m doing this weekend. As far as I know my only plan is the game on Sunday. (Which I am overly prepared for this week.)

I’m looking forward to heading home early and having a quiet night at home. Later, folks.

Noodles as Soul Balm

January 29, 2004

The visitation for Erik’s Dad was very nice last night. I guess the funeral was today. I hope that went well for him. We got to talking about how this is probably going to start being a more common occurence among our friends. I know that just in the past two months 5 people that I know either personally or through friends have passed away. It sucks getting older.

Yesterday after the visitation we headed home for burgers and some Babylon 5. There were explosions and vorlons and shadows and….very cool. A truly excellent series, that is.

I have had the worst week this week, and I have a feeling tomorrow is not going to be any better. Tell you about it later.

Right now I’m headed off to have dinner at Vin Santo with Alan and Katie. That is the only good thing to happen to me today.

Fermionic Condensate, Fermionic Condensate, Fermionic Condensate

January 29, 2004

Okay, so we’re already thinking about snagged a GameCube as a housewarming gift for ourselves when we move.

Now this? Jeebus, give me strength.

Go ahead, say fermionic condensate three times fast. Yay for new types of stuff!

I’m shocked!

w00t!

Postmortem on Toontown Online over at Gamasutra. Very, very interesting.

Shrimp, Spice, and Monkeys

January 28, 2004

Yes, John Kerry won. No, I’m not shocked. Yes, he’s going to win the candidacy. No, he’s not going to win the election. There. I’ve taken care of the suspense for you. Go back to your lives and prepare for another four years of Bush.

Yesterday we had scampy shrimp, spicy, and rice for dinner. V. Nummy. The reason for the spice was that Katie started a class she has on Tuesdays that goes from 6 - 7:30 at night. These college kids, you know? Once Katie got home we played some Monkey Ball (Monkey Target, of course) and then watched two episodes of Babylon 5. (Season 4 is the morbidest stuff eva.)

Remember, if you’re interested in WoW, sign up for the Beta tonight after 6pm pst. I’d wait until later tonight personally. Their site is going to get hammered.

This evening I will be going to a visitation for a friend’s father. Erik Langkamp’s dad passed away on Sunday. Erik’s a good guy. My thoughts are with you, mi amigo.

Pwning the Roomies

January 27, 2004

Last night we had stir-fry, and then played some Double Dash. I totally 0wned Katie and Brian with my little Koopa ParaTroopa. Then Brian played Pikmin for quite a while while Katie heckled and I worked on the Shadowrun game. All in all a good evening.

Tonight Katie has her first session of a night class she’s going to be having on Tuesdays, so I’ve got to fend off the wolves myself. I don’t know if Kat and Brian want to do dinner or not….hmm…maybe Boca Burgers.

Tomorrow is the first day of World of Warcraft Beta sign-ups. Roughly 1 kabillion people will be hitting blizzard.com tomorrow at 6pm pst. I’ll probably forget tomorrow night and sign up on Thursday morning. /shrug

In all likelyhood my acceptance into Beta is assured through my mmorpgdottedness, though I’m not certain of that.

The Guardians have been a really nice group of folks to get to know. I’m looking forward to gaming with them.

As you are undoubtedly aware, the New Hampshire primaries are this evening. Tonight we get a feel for how the Democratic candidates are in the eyes of the population at large. My own favorite candidate, Wesley Clark, is highly likely to lose badly tonight. Irregardless, whoever gets the Democratic ticket has my vote. Here’s hoping it’s someone worthwhile.

Eyes on My Work

January 27, 2004

Umm..

Mr. Bartle lists myself and the RD series on his reference page for Desiging Virtual Worlds. I sent him an email telling him about the series on MMORPGDot. Nice to know someone is reading! I’ll have to make sure that I do a good job on the review, then.

Nature vs. Nonexistance

January 26, 2004

Monday means a new editorial. Enjoy The Nature of the Game.
