April 29, 2004In my opinion, the Bush Administration has shattered any respect the Executive branch could have hoped to garner among the people of this country. The degree to which they have leapt beyond the bounds the Oval Office should toe is staggering. Two recent Salon articles do a good job of showing how bad things are.
“Making Women’s Issues Go Away” and “Above the Law” cover two very different topics. The first discusses attempts by the Executive branch to distort or conceal information that the conservative base of the Republican party might find objectionable (such as condom use). The second details the lengths to which the government is willing to shred the constitution in it’s pursuit of percieved enemies of the state.
Well researched facts obfuscated or obscured, useful information buried, US citizens imprisoned and threatened with no legal recourse… This is not the United States I was born in.
Come November, you know what to do. Let’s get that bastard out of office.
